Selection Process It will not be a grueling physical challenge,
we are not looking to take the fittest 14 students we can find, but a
balanced team of 14 students who will be able to cope with being away
from home for 4 weeks, whilst co-operating with and supporting the other
group members. There were only 14 places available on the trip, but the selection was so difficult, we decided to take 15 students instead! Students all wrote an application letter, and were interviewed. They also had to take part in a selection weekend. We spent a lovely 2 days in Wales in July (Friday 8th-Sunday 10th) camping and walking, playing silly games and building sand castles. The sun shone, the sky was blue, couldn't have been better really! - see photos here The students were set a number of challenges, from cooking for themselves, to giving instructions to a blindfolded team-member. At the end of the weekend, students were asked whether or not they were still interested in taking part. The selection process was not designed to be a grueling physical challenge, we were not looking to take the fittest 15 students we could find, but a balanced team of students who will be able to cope with being away
from home for 4 weeks, whilst co-operating with and supporting the other
group members. Selection was based on student interest, teamwork, uniqueness of application letter and general enthusiasm.
